Kindle Review

I have wanted a Kindle since they first came out because I LOVE to read...if I could read all day long every day, I would. It is something that started as a kid, whenever I was in timeout, which was often, I was given a book and that turned into a love of reading.

My kids also love to read, and that would be my fault. I read to them while I was pregnant and I read to them now. I think that reading is an amazing thing, it gives you a chance to travel to another world and meet new people and live a different life, as long as you are reading.

The Kindle makes this so much easier. I can now carry HUNDREDS of books, magazines and newspapers in my purse at one...I used to carry two books in my purse and it made my purse really heavy.

My Kindle has over 200 books on it right now, and I read like crazy, for some reason it seems like you're not reading as much as you are with the Kindle. In the last month I have read over 14 books and I really don't think I read that much. But, I must have.

The Kindle is extremely user friendly. My four year old has mastered how to use it...even though he isn't supposed to touch it. It also marks your place, which I think is amazing since I can't remember what page I'm on in a regular book. Mine has Wi-Fi so I can connect at any hot spot and order books that way. The battery life on it is amazing, with as much as I have used it this past month I have only charged it twice. It only takes 3 hours to charge from dead to completely full and turning the Wi-Fi off preserves the battery even more. You can also change the text size to so big that there are only a few words on the screen to extremely tiny, depending on how you like it. There's also the text-to-speech feature which means you turn it on and it reads to you. You can pick either a male or female voice and how fast you want it to read. You can change the view from portrait to landscape if you want as well. It comes with two dictionaries loaded onto it already so you can look up a word if you aren't sure of the meaning, you can also highlight text and make a note, kinda like in a regular book when you make a note in the margin.

They say you can read it in the sun like you can a regular book and this claim is 100% true, I read mine in the car while waiting for my oldest son to get off the bus, I read it outside while the kids play...it's amazing.
If you are an avid reader like me I would HIGHLY recommend a Kindle, even if you only read occasionally I would recommend one for you. Just because the Kindle is a must have for anyone who reads.

  1. I have a Nook, and my daughter has the Nook Tablet. I like your Kindle review, as I have helped my niece, the lone Kindle owner in our family, to learn and load her Kindle. I went with the Nook because I am an Barnes & Noble baby, so it was just like going from the bottle to the big girl cup for me. And you are right, it doesn't seem like you have read that much. I have moved a lot of books to my 'storage' library. What I like best is that I don't have to always run out to the bookstore to get a book, and when my fibromyalgia is messing with my vision, I can have the book read to me!

    1. You're completely right the best part is not having to run out all the time to get a new book. Which is especially helpful to me since I live about 20miles from town and even then, I haven't seen one bookstore, lol. And I too let mine read to me when my eyes are tired or hurting. I have even had it reading to me while I take a bath every once in awhile, it's nice to have that convience :)
